Update: Poetry, Art and Socrates

*Please note the date for this event has been changed to Thursday, 2/26

Who was Socrates?

Socrates is the classical Greek philosopher, considered one of the greatest teachers of all time, whose method of teaching questioned everything and everyone. What is the Socratic method of teaching? How and why should we look at classic works of poetry and art through the eyes of this ancient Greek philosopher? (NPR has one of the cutest compilations of answers to the question, “Who was Socrates?”)

Let’s talk about Poetry

Join the Great Books team for a fun evening of poetry, art and Socratic discussion, as we dive into a classic Edward Hopper painting and the poetry of Miroslav Holub. Be prepared to explore poetry and art, and question everything!
